ROBERT HOMER McCUTCHEON

As another founding member of NCC he was already familiar with August Crucius and Victor Mauger. He was Victor's son-in-law!
At the time of the company formation he was a successful business man and agent for the Russell & Morgan Printing Company in New York.
Robert graduated from New York City College in 1877 where he was President of his class. After graduation he studied Engineering for two years. He then worked on the construction of the West Shore Railroad.
He made fortunes and lost fortunes over his career.
Besides NCC and Russell & Morgan he served with the United States Capsule Company, of Detroit; the Perfection Playing Card Company, the United States Printing Company, the Security Conduit Company and the New York National Exchange Bank and Director and eventually served as Secretary of the United States Playing Card Company.
Like Samuel J Murray he also named his first son after Victor E Mauger.
The Oakwood Estate (shown on the left) was owned by Robert H. McCutcheon in the early 1900s. It was located at 1010 Plainfield Avenue, in Plainfield, New Jersey. The estate comprised most of the land between present day Plainfield Avenue and West Eighth Street. It is now divided by several streets and many homes.
